I'm happy because after so many weeks into the summer, it finally feels like it. At least in my abode.

For many years, the real arrival of summer in our house is when my stepdaughter is visiting.  That also means the rest of our cousins stay in our house to spend time with her.  That also means that the hubs and I start getting extra busy planning out activities, destination trips and food trips. 

Five years ago, you'll find multi-colored Nike Dunks on our doorstep, backpacks strewn around.  Candy-colored nail polish bottles, hair straighterners, and we'd be cooking food, driving them around, a lot of pick-ups and drop-offs....

Fast forward to today, they are pretty mobile and out on their own, my stepdaughter drives around anywhere now and takes her cousins with her.  Today they went to our old town to visit an aunt, eat chicken wings at an old favorite stop.  While we used to talk about arts and crafts and how their water ballloon fights went,  now I find myself listening and interested in what she has to say about health and beauty products....which is really one of my favorite topics.

Online shopping is a newfound thing as well.  I was delighted to discover new things with her help such as the acrylic makeup organizer, lotion applicator, and even gillette mach3.

Suffice it to say, my daughter has "become" my instant girlfriend.

It seems like only yesterday.Where did those 5 years go?  I'm not complaining.  It just went so fast. 

But it's all good.
